Becoming a psychologist was a last-minute decision. I had originally planned to study journalism because I dreamed of traveling the world and writing about what I experienced.
Everything changed when I was 17, at a Surrealism exhibition at the Centro Cultural de Belém. That visit made me realize I wanted to follow Psychology instead, even though I wasn’t from a science background. I have always trusted my heart and never worried too much about what others thought.
I enrolled at Universidade Lusófona, and during those five years, I encountered experiences I loved, ones I disliked, and others that simply didn’t matter. Among my greatest passions were psychotherapies: Moreno’s Psychodrama, Family Therapy, Psychoanalysis, and clandestine readings of Carl Jung on the Collective Unconscious. At the same time, I explored the teachings of Krishnamurti, Deepak Chopra, and Osho.
Because I was so drawn to psychotherapy, immediately after finishing my degree in Clinical Psychology, I pursued a postgraduate program in Client-Centered Psychotherapies and began working with clients right away. Later, seeking the experience of living abroad, I completed a Master’s in Coaching in Madrid, where I spent two years. On returning to Portugal, I founded my company, Making a Bridge, offering coaching training and executive coaching sessions while continuing my work in psychotherapy.
A few years later, an opportunity arose to join a European Commission-funded program for young entrepreneurs. I interned at a Dutch company, gaining experience in career coaching. Five years after launching my business, I decided to close it. The timing coincided with the death of my father, marking a period for reflection, slowing down, and dedicating myself solely to psychotherapy.
Later, I chose to specialize in body psychotherapy. My experience with yoga had shown me how powerful breathing techniques and body postures can be in supporting physical and emotional healing. I wanted to combine these practices with psychotherapy, giving patients a holistic approach to progress more effectively.
At the end of my five-year specialization in bioenergetic analysis, I became pregnant, and Flor was born. I returned to work as a psychotherapist, exclusively online, somewhere in the Alentejo region.
In recent years, my focus has been on understanding abusive relationships within narcissistic family dynamics and the lasting trauma they leave behind.
Today, I live in Lisbon, in my neighborhood of Alvalade.
Through this union of knowledge, my goal is to help those who come to me not only gain insight into their conflicts and psychological patterns but also learn tools for self-regulation. Daily, as “food for the soul,” they can nurture themselves and prevent emotional overwhelm.
I believe that by empowering people with conscious daily practices, they gradually learn to function and live better in a world full of demands. Our bodies thrive when balanced and relaxed—but to achieve this, we need awareness of ourselves and the tools to stay in harmony.
Perhaps one day, this will even be taught in schools… and we will all live more balanced, happier lives.
