Yoga journey

Yoga journey

I have been practicing yoga since I was 20 years old. Also around that time I became vegetarian. I started with Swasthay Yoga. Later, when I lived in Madrid, I discovered Ashtanga Yoga and my first teacher was Borja Romero. In Lisbon I practiced with Isa Guitana, at Casa Vinyasa and later with Francisco Rodrigues, at Yoga Lisboa in Chiado. I traveled to Goa, India, and studied Vinyasa Flow at Kranti Yoga. In Bali, Indonesia, I learned Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga at Serenity Eco Guest House and Yoga.

In 2017, I certified as a yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance Teacher Training at Abhyasa Yoga Center with teacher Hugo Abecassies. Her knowledge of Iyengar Yoga sparked my interest in learning more about this practice. Currently practicing with Carla Penetra at the Yoga Shala in Alvalade, and with Francisco Rodrigo in online classes.

I did several training sessions with Tomás Zorzo, a Spanish senior in Ashtanga yoga and Integral Yoga. It is a pleasure and a joy to learn from him.

After becoming a mother, I dedicated myself to learning how to strengthen the pelvic floor in partnership with my teacher Carla Penetra and physiotherapist Fátima Sanches. In which we developed a whole sequence of exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which are so weakened after having a baby. The recovery of this area on our body is essential for us to feel safe and structured as women. In yoga, it is our ground, our roots, our source of security and feminine power, Muladhara Chakra.

For me Yoga is constant learning:  With our teachers; With our daily practice and self-study; And teaching, sharing knowledge with students.

Yoga is a key complement to self-knowledge and personal development. The practice of asanas helps to unblock and move stagnant energy, which causes physical and psychological illness, pranayama and meditation techniques are an elixir for mental and emotional balance. I think body therapy and yoga are a happy union.
